Making a splash at War Memorial Park in Little Rock is one way to beat the heat.

KARK 4 Meteorologist Darby Bybee stopped by on Monday afternoon when the heat soared into record territory before topping off at 111 degrees.

The new and improved playground, which reopened in May after renovation work, features climbing areas and a spray water area - similar to what the city created at Peabody Park.

A knobby hill built into the design has a variety of ways to  enter and exit over it. There are numerous slides that penetrate through the hill to underground tunnels that lead to the water spray play area.

Grottos, caves and rock crannies are laced with water spray, mist and fog that provide a distinctive play experience and relief from the heat.
