Six months after introducing the program nationwide, Wal-Mart says four-dollar generic prescriptions now make up almost 38% of all prescriptions it fills. Chief Operating Officer Bill Simon says the program was such a hit when it was first introduced the company rolled it out nationwide in November, months ahead of schedule.
He estimates about $350-million in costs have been removed from the healthcare system thanks to the program.
