Researchers studied what happens to pacemaker patients when an iPod is held two inches in front of their chest.
They found the iPod caused interference 50 percent of the time -- in one case the pacemaker stopped.
Many electronic devices have been shown to have this effect -- including cell phones and microwave ovens.
Doctors say patients shouldn't place an iPod directly over their pacemaker, like in their front shirt pocket.
