Winston Dean Jackson is the third law enforcement officer to be sentenced in the east Arkansas corruption and drug trafficking case that rounded up dozens of suspects back in October.
Jackson, who pleaded guilty in March to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possession of a controlled substance, was sentenced today to 80 months in prison, with four years of supervised release.
Other law enforcement officers already sentenced in the case include:
- Former Marvell police officer Robert Wahls, two years in prison
- Former Helena-West Helena officer Herman Eaton, 16 months in prison
The fifth officer, Marlene Kalb (formerly with the Helena Police Department), has pleaded not guilty and goes to trial in July.
Two other suspects in the case entered guilty pleas in federal court today. They are: Lester Martin and Robert Bennett.
*Operation Delta Blues was a multi-year federal sting operation.
