Homeowners in North Little Rock are fighting for their land after they receive letters from the school district asking them to sell.
Jim Key and Lisa Helm have owned their home for 8 years, pouring money into improvement projects, making the place their slice of the American Dream.
But Friday, they got a letter in the mail telling them the North Little Rock School District wanted to buy their home to expand nearby Amboy Elementary School.
This couple says they aren't selling, especially because they say the district offered only half what they think their home is worth.
Now they want the neighborhood to stand together.
"We just hope others in North Little Rock see this and steps in and supports us because it could be them next," said Jim Key.
But at least one homeowner we talked to say they will sell if the district offers fair market value
This expansion, all part of a complete district make-over approved by voters with a millage increase in February.
A spokesperson for the district did not return our attempts to contact them.
