Lonoke County Man Asking for Public's Help to Solve Son's Murder

On May 28th, 2011, Lonoke County Authorities found a body who was later identified as 25-year-old William Watson.
One year later, no suspect has been identified in what is now a homicide investigation.
Now, the sheriff's office and Watson's father, Jimmy Watson are asking for the public's help in bringing forward new information that may eventually solve this case.
Jimmy Watson is pleading for someone to help bring justice and closure to his son's death.
He said he knows who did it, where they did it, and even how. But that hasn't been enough.
"I'm just trying to keep from going out and doing something myself," Watson said.
He's waited a year for the justice system to convict someone for the murder of his son.
Watson said he knows the ins and outs of his son's murder case.
"Just pure hate," Watson said. "That's all I can tell you is pure hate."
That day, May 28th, he and his son planned to get together for a barbecue. But William never came.
When he heard a body was found in Lonoke County, he knew.
"In my mind I kept saying it's probably him because he hasn't returned any of my phone calls."
And in his mind he knows who did it. For the sake of the investigation, he wouldn't reveal who he suspects.
"They just can't go by my words."
The family sent a message to the local community.
"There's a murderer in the midst of you," said William's aunt, Rita Watson, about her thinking the person responsible is in the community.
While William Watson's family said they know who did it, they also think a lot of other people either witnessed or know something.
"Because I know somebody had to see something," Rita Watson said. "This happened in broad day light. Somebody had
to see something."
They think people might be scared to come forward, for the sake of retaliation.
The Sheriff's Office guaranteed they don't release names of people who come forward with information.
They've worked this case for an entire year.
"Homicide investigations are always a priority," said Lonoke County Detective, Matthew Edwards.
All they have right now are ideas and theories.
"We have a good idea on who's involved but no evidence to take anything to court on."
They too want to bring justice for the family.
Jimmy Watson said, "My son didn't deserve to die like this. He had a lot of life in him. For somebody to take him away like that... That don't make no sense."
