New Trial Ordered in White County Lottery Ticket Dispute

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: May 25, 2012
White County Circuit Judge Thomas Hughes ordered a new trial today over a disputed million-dollar lottery ticket.

Sharon Jones of Beebe found the million-dollar ticket in the trash at a gas station in July of 2011.

Judge Hughes had previously awarded the ticket to Sharon Duncan who said she'd bought the ticket but then threw it away.

There's no start date for the new trial yet. Judge Hughes' clerk told KARK 4 she did not know why he'd ordered the new trial.

Comments

Mrs Duncan did what she was supposed to do (throw away a losing ticket), Mrs Jones did what she was supposed to do ( cash in a winning ticket she found). The only one that did not do what they were supposed to do( and seem are not being held accountable) is the Arkansas Lottery Commision. Tey need to take the loss.
