Astronomy buffs are getting a treat in the skies this weekend.

On Sunday night, Arkansans will be able to see the ending part of an Annular Eclipse that will be more visible to our west.

KARK 4 Today/Arkansas Today Meteorologist Greg Dee and Darrell Heath with the Central Arkansas Astronomical Society say Arkansans will see the beginning of the eclipse here just as the sun sets on Sunday night.

To get the best viewing, weather dependent, you will have to get to a higher, open area where you can clearly see the horizon.

Places like the higher level of the Junction Bridge in downtown Little Rock, the Big Dam Bridge or Pinnacle Mountain may offer clear views of the western horizon as the sun sets.

Though the sun will be low and weaker, you should NEVER try to view it directly through a telescope or binoculars, which would harm your eyesight. You should either purchase #14 welder's glass at a  hardware supply store or some special glasses (click here for more information).

You can also watch the eclipse indirectly by making a projection device such as the ones described at this link (click here).

Now let's just hope clouds Sunday clear enough to see it!
