A UAMS center has earned a five-year grant worth $8 million from the National Institutes of Health.
The center studies osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases.
The goal of the research supported by the grant is to understand the mechanisms that cause Osteoporosis.
The investigators of the center are using an understanding of these mechanisms to develop more effective treatment of this bone disease.
Since its establishment in 1994, the center has brought UAMS nearly $70 million in grants from the NIH.
