Overnight Homicide, Hostage Situation in Fort Smith

An overnight homicide and standoff with police in Fort Smith ends without further violence.

Police tell CNN affiliate KFSM Fredrick Newton, 37, turned himself in just before 3:00 Friday morning after allegedly shooting two men, brothers, killing one and taking the other hostage. The victims have not been identified but police say the one who was taken hostage managed to escape, though they haven't been able to find him yet.
