Saturday Supermoon Alert

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: May 1, 2012
If you like to watch sunrises, an upcoming moonrise will have you heading back outside a few hours after the sun goes down.

Even if you're not in the habit of waiting for the moon to come out, you might change your mind on Saturday.

That's when the biggest full moon of the year is expected.

According to Space.com, the moon will officially become full at 10:35 Central Time on Saturday night.

The website says because this month's full moon coincides with the moon's perigee -- its closest approach to Earth -- it will also be the year's biggest.

That means a spectacular view of an extra-big, extra-bright moon, better known as a supermoon.
