Street Vendors Unwelcome By Some Downtown Businesses

Some local restaurants aren't too pleased. If you have ever been by one around noon, you know how long the lines are.

Some owners told KARK 4 many are picking these vendors over traditional restaurants in the area because it's quick and often cheaper than sitting down.

These vendors are also in the River Market area and although that's not a part of the Little Rock Downtown Partnership.

The director of that partnership told us everybody is just going to have to learn to get along.

Which is the attitude we also heard from some restaurants in the river market.

"I think they just need something real quick real fast," said Kelley Schmidt with Gusano's, "There's plenty of customers to go around."

The owner of a cafe downtown we spoke with told us they attribute a recent closing of one restaurant in their area to the street vendors and estimate they lose about $300 a day.
