Organizers say that's only 1% of the total number of children in Arkansas affected by incarceration.

Doris Cunningham prides herself in working hard to provide for her family, but sometimes the holidays can be a bit gloomy.

"Around Christmas time it's a wonderful time, but if funds are low you can't provide a gift for young children in your family," explains Cunningham.

But thank's to Prison Fellowship's angel tree Doris expects this Christmas to be one to remember for her granddaughters.

"I think angel tree is a wonderful program because it's been a blessing to my family," adds Cunningham, "When you give a gift to a child it's a lasting gift. They can look back on that and say hey I had a great Christmas."

So why do churches team up with Prison Fellowship during the holidays? It's simple, to spread a little Christmas cheer.

"It's an amazing testimony to let prisoners know people care about them and their lives can change and their families can be healed," says Jennifer Lowrey, Prison Fellowship field director.

Healing is exactly what Doris wishes for every year. And so far she says the Lord has been good to her family, "Children that have their parents in prison or families that have unfortunate things happen to them - that puts them in this position. It brings tears to my eyes to know that we have caring people like that."

And organizers with angel tree hope to bring joy to all the kids on the wish list, but...

"We still have 420 kids who do not have a local church adopting them yet," admits Lowrey.

But organizers say they wont stop working until Santa is done squeezing down every chimney come Christmas morning.
