Dr. Celia Banting releases her first series of therapeutic novels, entitled "I only said..." On staff at Pinnacle Pointe Hospital, Dr. Banting says it was a young patient who first inspired her to write. The five books in this first series cover topics ranging from sexual abuse, to bullying, to grief and depression. "What I wanted to do was identify with their situation, so it's like embellishing the story, to get the kids hooked in, so that further on in the book, when I start to do the therapy, they will just learn like through the back door," Dr. Banting says. She hopes her novels reach kids who don't have access or can't afford treatments at specialized clinics. Dr. Banting is currently working on her second series.
The books are available at Hastings in Benton. You can also click here to get more information about the "I only said" series.
