At this evening's Little Rock City Board meeting, the board rejected a proposal that would have made it mandatory for city employees to live within city limits.

Proponents argued the measure would have given residents an edge in hiring, and helped generate revenue for the city.

Opponents said the idea would be too restrictive, and the board agreed.

The discussion got a bit heated.

At one point a man had to be escorted out.

Close to a thousand city employees, many of them police and firefighters, live outside the city.
