In a non-scientific poll on Facebook, 76 percent of those who responded said they support Coach Petrino and the situation that left him on administrative leave is strictly a personal matter. 17 percent of people said it's too early in the investigation to rush to a decision. The remaining 7 percent of those who responded thought the coach needed to be fired.
The KARK Twitter account was flooded with fan reaction largely supporting Petrino.
"He's a great coach, sure. But he's human first," wrote @mckev24. "We ALL make mistakes. I just hope he truly learns from this."
"Without Petrino it will take another ten years to get back to where we already are," added @brewinhops.
Others said despite his ability to coach and lead the team, Petrino needed to be let go.
"If I told a blatant lie to my boss I'd be fired. Either way this won't end well. Hate to say it but I think he will/should go," wrote @EMiller518.
@llanesbrown123 more simply stated, "Bobby Needs to Go."
