Arkansas legislators are waiting for a report
due November 30th that will estimate costs for improving state
public school buildings.
Legislators say they expect some sticker shock, which could
revive a push for further consolidations of school districts.
Consolidation bitterly divided legislators throughout the 2003
regular session and this years special session.
The state paid more than nine (m) million dollars for the
assessment of its 6,600 school buildings. Having adequate
facilities is a part of a court order the state is under to improve
its public schools.
