School Review in the Works

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Though the special session on education may be finished, an important part of the states effort to comply with the Lakeview school equity verdict is just beginning. By Thursday, Arkansas hopes to have signed a contract with an Ohio company to do a statewide review of school buildings. The Lakeview verdict requires the state to make each school facility adequate for every child. Assessment teams will have to be hired to look at the structural integrity of buildings as well as their fitness for the subjects to be taught in them. The project manager to oversee all of the teams will cost Arkansas almost 2.3 million dollars. Another six million will be paid out to the teams themselves.
