Little Rock Schools Offer Tutoring To Children At Failing Schools

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The Little Rock School District is finally starting some tutoring programs required by the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Four months ago, the district learned that seven of its schools fell under new requirements for after-school tutoring. Arkansas has 17 schools with at least three straight years of low test scores, meaning they must provide tutoring or special computer assistance. North Little Rock has two schools that fall under the requirement and they plan to start tutoring soon. No Child Left Behind requires districts to use Title One money to hire outside contractors for supplemental tutoring or computer services. Little Rock has hired Knowledge Points of Central Arkansas and School Technology Extensions.
