A sixth-grade science teacher at Dunbar Magnet Middle School got a big surprise today. Kristy Atkinson Kidd will receive a 25-thousand dollar cash award, honoring her high standards and hard work in the classroom. Kidd said she was stunned when Arkansas first lady Janet Huckabee and Lowell Milken, the awards founder, and others presented her the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award. Kidd is allowed to use the money in any way she chooses. She is one of 100 teachers nationwide to receive the cash award, which will be presented to the teachers at a national conference in Los Angeles.
