New research shows injured veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder are at greater risk for prescription drug abuse.

The study found that those taking prescription pain killers and also had PTSD were more likely to misuse meds than vets who suffered with pain but did not have PTSD.

The study's authors say their findings support the case for further efforts to improve care for vets with PTSD and help them with their psychological pain as well as their physical pain.
