Those were the odds stacked against a Rhode Island grandma.
But 81-year-old Louise White of Newport had lady luck on her side, in a big way.
She won the February 11th Powerball jackpot of $336.4 million, and today she came to Providence to collect her winnings.
"Well, I want to say that, um, I am very happy, and I'm very proud and this will make my family very happy. We are truly blessed. Thank you," White said during the ceremony that presented her with a very big check.
The woman's win is the third largest Powerball jackpot in the history of the game and the largest jackpot ever won in Rhode Island.
White elected to take the cash option which amounts to a lump sum payment of a record $210 million. It's the highest cash option payout ever for Powerball.
She bought the winning ticket at a Newport convenience store. It was a $9 wager with three Quick Pick numbers on it and the PowerPlay option selected.
The winning numbers for the February 11 drawing was 1, 10, 37, 52, 57, and the Powerball number was 11.
This jackpot win was the first since the newly revamped $2 version of the game debuted January 15th.
The state of Rhode Island will also benefit greatly from this big win, receiving an estimated lump sum tax payment of $14,700,000.
