It's proof dogs really are man's best friend as this one also happens to be a lifesaver.

Trixie, a blind older terrier mix, is credited with saving the life of her 78 year old owner. For that good deed, Trixie is now a finalist in the Humane society of the United State's Dogs of Valor awards.

On a cold night in Little Rock, 78 year old Ida Moose and Trixie were outside when Ida slipped and collapsed face first into the mud.

With no one to help, Trixie cuddled up next to Ida and kept her warm for nearly 20 hours.

Doctors said Ida probably had a stroke and that it's likely she wouldn't have survived the night if Trixie hadn't kept her warm.
