FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas plays its final game before entering Southeastern Conference play when the Razorbacks play host to Western Illinois on Sunday at 7:35 p.m. Following is a partial transcript of head coach Stan Heaths press conference.
"I would like for us to score more points (in this game), at least in the first half. Forty-six points in the second half (against Texas-Pan American) was pretty good. I cant complain about that. I would like to see more of our younger guys out there. Sean McCurdy did a nice job. I also want to get Ronnie Brewer going again heading into Southeastern Conference play. We need him playing at a high level.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If our shots arent falling and we can grind out a win, it doesnt bother me. We turned it over too much (against UTPA). Thats the only thing that bothered me. I liked our defense and rebounding."
Ronnie Brewer (who played with the flu on Friday):
"I expect him to be 30 percent better (on Sunday). He has to learn to play through that. Thats something I feel is my responsibility to help him do."
Western Illinois:
"When you look at their stats, they dont show a lot of weaknesses. They shoot the ball well, they dont turn it over and they have a player (David Jackson, 16.6 ppg) who can score. Theyve been playing fast, shooting the three and attacking the basket. It will be interesting to see if they continue doing that. We will also see some man and zone. My focus is on my team."
