Doris Wallace loves to serve holiday meals packed with Southern comfort-food traditions, such as baked ham; sweet potato casserole; chicken and dressing; creamed potatoes - and of course, a side of purple hull peas.
Doris' other specialty is pies - particularly chocolate.
One of her recipes, for a Cream-filled Strawberry-Brownie Cake, has landed her a shot at a million dollar prize.
On Monday, March 26, Wallave and 99 other finalists will prepare their original recipes side-by-side in 100 GE mini kitchens at the Peabody Orlando Hotel in the Pillsbury Bake-Off..Martha Stewart will join the cooks on the contest floor as they prepare their creations .
The recipes will be judged by a panel of food experts working in secrecy behind closed doors to select the contest's million-dollar winner.
