FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas defensive end Jamaal Anderson has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday. Anderson led the Razorbacks with eight tackles including three tackles for loss (-17), one sack (-6), two quarterback hurries and one forced fumble in Arkansas 44-10 win over Mississippi State. "Im proud of Jamaal and the play of the entire defensive line in the win over Mississippi State," Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. "Jamaal has continued to improve each week and is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with at defensive end. He is a hard worker and has a bright future on our defense." Anderson sacked MSU quarterback Michael Henig in the second quarter and caused a fumble. The fumble was recovered by teammate Keith Jackson at the MSU 12-yard line and led to a UA field goal. Anderson also dropped Norwood for a 10-yard loss on a screen pass and later a one-yard loss on a rushing attempt. The sophomore from Little Rock has tallied 43 tackles this season including 10.5 tackles for loss (-58). In his last four games, he has racked up 8.5 tackles for loss (-47). Anderson helped spearhead a defense that allowed only 183 yards in total offense to the Bulldogs including only 44 yards in the first half. Excluding a 53-yard run by Jerious Norwood, Mississippi State netted -9 yards on 24 first-half plays.
