According to the school district police filed formal charges Monday against science teacher Stacy Stracener. Stracener is charged with 11 counts of sexual assault in the first degree and two counts of sexual assault in the second degree.
While some parents say they are shocked, some students told KARK they are not totally in disbelief. Some were surprised about who is being accused, but not the accusation that there may have been inappropriate conduct.
Student Aubrie Whittaker said, "She was always really nice and said hi. I just never thought there would have been sexual problems with her, she was really nice and sweet. "
Other students said the district should take this time to discuss the occurrence and prevention of these types of issues with families.
"I give props to whoever drew attention to this to because most students don't feel like they are able to," said student Haley Fry.
Stacy Stracener makes her first appearance in a Lonoke County Court Tuesday.
