Updated: February 2, 2012
Pfizer is recalling about a million packets of pills because they may not contain enough active ingredient to prevent pregnancy.

The drugmaker says the recall involves 14 lots of Lo/Ovral-28 (norgestrel and ethinyl estradiol) tablets and 14 lots of Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets (generic) for customers in the U.S. market.

Pills bought at Planned Parenthood of the Heartland health centers in Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma have not been affected by this recall.

Any adverse events that may be related to the use of these products should be reported to Akrimax Medical Information at 1-877-509-3935 (8AM to 7PM Mon-Fri Central Time) or to FDA's Med Watch Program (click here).
