Updated: December 20, 2011
Race officials announced Wednesday the field for the 2012 Little Rock Marathon is full at 2,400 people.   Over 1,000 registrations are left in the half marathon, but officials say they expect that race to reach its 4,200 capacity in the next few weeks.

According to Gina Pharis, Co Executive Director of the Little Rock Marathon, all races will be sold out prior to race weekend based on current registration trends.

The registration cap was established in 2008 to ensure a safe, quality race experience for all participants.

The 10th running of the Little Rock Marathon and companion races will be Sunday, March 4, 2012 in downtown Little Rock. The Little Rock 5K Fun Run/Walk and the Final Mile of the Little Rockers Kids Marathon, will be Saturday, March 3th in downtown Little Rock. The Little Rock Marathon benefits Little Rock Parks & Recreation.

"Typically our race sells out in late January," said Pharis. "With this being our tenth year, people are feeling a sense of urgency and want to be part of the experience."

"Our team works tirelessly to make sure every athlete's experience is unforgettable," said Pharis. "We put on a quality event; our volunteers are the epitome of true southern hospitality; the City of Little Rock rolls out the red carpet for our athletes, and we give the world's largest marathon finisher's medal."

Race officials are preparing for 12,000 participants in all the races from the marathon to the 5k and 30,000 spectators race weekend.

On line registration is available through midnight CST on February 24, 2012 or until the registration cap has been reached at www.littlerockmarathon.com  Paper registration forms must be postmarked by February 24, 2012, but are strongly discouraged as the race may have filled prior to receipt of the form.

Prior to race day, there is a free two-day health and fitness expo on March 2 - 3 in the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock.
