Funeral services have been set for Patricia Guardado, the UALR student found dead over the weekend after disappearing the morning of October 12.

A vigil service with rosary is scheduled for 7:00 PM Thursday night at St. Edward Catholic Church at 801 Sherman Street in Little Rock. The service will last around 30 minutes, but family and friends could stay as late as 9:00.

A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Friday morning at 10:00, also at St. Edward.

Both services will be bilingual.

The family has asked both video and still cameras not be brought inside the church either Friday or Saturday, or to the cemetery Saturday morning.

Rev. Jason Tyler, Pastor of St. Edward Catholic Church released this statement:
As a community of faith, as family and friends of Patricia Guardado Garcia, we
grieve her loss. Paty's life, along with her joy, vibrancy, and good character, was taken from us far too soon. We miss Paty's presence in our community. Her family was among the first Hispanic families to call St. Edward their spiritual home almost 20 years ago.

We know that God has a plan, and our faith in the Risen Lord offers us some
consolation, but in this moment, we grieve her loss - our loss - and we ask why it had to be. We remember that Jesus, too, wept at the loss of his friend Lazarus, and so we turn to Him who will "wipe away every tear from their eyes" (Rev 21:4).

With faith and hope in our Risen Savior, we entrust her soul to a good and merciful God. We know that for God's faithful, death means that life is changed - not ended - as the sadness of death gives way to the bright promise of immortality.

On Friday we will bury Patricia. We will pray for the happy repose of her soul and for all who mourn her loss. We would also like to thank all those who have offered their prayers and sympathies and all who continue to help our community through this time of mourning.

Once again, we implore anyone with information regarding Patricia's murder to
contact the police.
