Maumelle Police investigate death of 2 month old

Maumelle police are now calling it an abandonment investigation. They were called to 23 Pinoak Loop Saturday afternoon after Sherwood police alerted them the residence could be a crime scene.
The 25 year old mother of a 2 month old boy told police she came home and found her baby unconscious. She drove the baby to her mothers home in Sherwood before calling emergency crews. The baby was later pronounced dead at St. Vincent`s.
The autopsy report indicates the baby died of suffocation. There were no indications of physical abuse.
Police are investigating the mother`s whereabouts before she found the infant.
