Written Word Stands the Test of Time on Mother`s Day

Mothers across the country were showered with love on Sunday, as children and fathers sent gifts to the special woman in their lives. For one Arkansas mom, the way to her heart was much simpler than that. Rebecca McCormick of Hot Springs was one of thousands of military moms who received cards from their sons and daughters serving overseas, thanks to the generosity of a military support group, and the Paramount Cards Inc. in Rhode Island. Getting back from a trip in Nashville, McCormick opened her card at the Little Rock National Airport on Sunday. McCormick says her son, Guardsman Wayne West, was one of those kids that every mother dreamed of having. Fighting back tears, she read the card, addressed to "My Momma". "I love you so much, you`re such a joy to my life, and a blessing to everyone you come in contact with," wrote West. "God has given you so many talents and strengths, and I`m so proud of how you have used them for the purpose for which God has created you for." In August, Guardsman Wayne West will be on military leave, giving him a chance to spend time with his mom.
