Vandalism and Burglaries on the Rise for Little Rock Community

In the Reservoir-Rodney Parham neighborhoods, residents have noticed an increase in vandalism in the area. But it is not only the paint on lightposts, fences and sidewalks that are affecting the property. Burglaries have also been on the rise in the community. The vandals have damaged the playground equipment of Sturbridge Park and the pool as well as some of the lights have been broken out. "It`s not anything big, but it`s nuisance things," a resident said. Police say that while these events are not gang or drug related, they are precursors to additional crimes. Some of those additional crimes have already struck the Reservoir-Rodney Parham neighborhoods in the form of increased burglaries. "Small things, drug habits are very expensive and they usually take things they can sell quickly and get cash," Sgt. Terry Hastings of the Little Rock Police Department commented. So far nothing of great value has been stolen, just items such as lawn equipment and ornaments. Police say to call them if you have any information that would help.
