Father of Alleged Voyeur Victim Speaks Out

The father of a girl who police say was caught on a voyeur`s video tape is speaking out for the first time. He doesn`t want his name revealed because he wants to protect his family`s privacy. Last February Benton Police arrested 40-year-old Steve Bowles and charged him with nine counts of video voyeurism. They say he set up a camera in the bathroom ceiling in his Benton home and taped his two teenage daughters and their friends when each took a shower. Police say they got a tip about the videos when Bowles confessed to his therapist. They say he taped a total of nine girls between the ages of 12 and 16. One of the alleged victim`s fathers spoke with KARK for the first time. He says the whole family was devastated to learn of the charges. The father says all the girls loved going to Bowles` home. "To all the kids, he was the cool dad. His house was the place all the kids wanted to hang out", he says. The father says he was shocked when Benton Police first told him his daughter was on tape taking a shower. He says that shock soon turned to rage. He now wants justice. "When it`s happening to your little girl, there`s just not enough punishment," he says. Bowles will be back in court next month. If convicted on all nine counts, he could be facing almost 60 years in prison and $90,000 in fines. The Saline County Prosecutor says it`s possible, if Bowles is convicted, that he wouldn`t go to prison because he`s a first time offender.
