Cruising the streets of Little Rock on Sunday, thousands of bikers had the wind at their face for Arkansas fallen heroes. A memorial motorcycle ride began at Colonel Glenn Road. From there, bikers traveled down interstate 430, and finished up at the steps of the State Capitol.
This memorial ride began with 3 Arkansas soldiers, sitting in Iraq, saying to themselves, lets do something special when we get back to the United States.
"They would probably say, man why are you doing this, we don`t need all this stuff," said Chief Dennis Bradley with the 39th Infantry Brigade. "There`s nothing to gain here, no free t-shirts, there`s nothing to be given away, they`re just here to honor the guys with the 39th Brigade Combat Team."
Corporal Jimmy Buie is one of those Arkansans who lost his life for freedom. His wife Lisa went along for the ride.
"There`s not many people in this world that are lucky enough at the point of death, that are doing the who, what, where, how, and why, and Jimmy was doing that," said Lisa Buie.
Corporal Buie is not alone. 32 other soldiers from the 39th also lost their lives doing what they loved most.
"All we can do is honor their memory and keep their memory alive," said Major General Don Morrow.
The soldiers with the 39th hope more of these memorials will continue, acknowledging others will still have to lose their lives for the cost of freedom.
