Updated: January 7, 2009
A committee in the US Senate has advanced a bill that could end up taking some anticipated homeland security funding away from Arkansas. The bill lays out the details of how money is distributed to the states for use on security projects. Under current law, each state is guaranteed a minimum of .75% of the overall federal spending on homeland security. The new minimum is .55%. Last year, Arkansas got nearly $19 million in homeland security funding.
