State Senate Fails To Pass Bill To Help Soldiers

A state Senate committee failed to pass a bill that would have boosted the income tax exemption for Arkansas soldiers. The bill would`ve applied to soldiers who`ve been to Iraq -- and also to members of the National Guard and reserves. The tax exemption under the new bill would have grown from $6,000 to $12,000. Only three of seven committee members voted for the bill.
