At Thursday night`s Little Rock School Board meeting, members voted to approve a district re-organization.
The plan was presented at the last meeting by a group of auditors who were hired to review the district.
They recommended cutting 101 positions, mostly in middle management. The auditors said it would save the school district more than $5 million.
The board did approve the plan Thursday night, but not without some heated discussion about whether such a drastic change was in the best interest of the students.
Only one board member voted against the plan. The board points out the plan is just a blueprint to point the district in the right direction, but not set in stone.
