Nursing aide training may be increased

Legislation to increase nursing aide training to 90 hours was sent to Governor Mike Huckabee Thursday. The measure, known as the Barbara Broyles` Training Program, requires that included in those 90 hours is 15 hours of training on how to work with Alzheimer`s and dementia patients. Under current law, nursing aides are required to complete 75 hours of generalized care training. Broyles, the wife of the University of Arkansas Athletic Director Frank Broyles passed away last year from Alzheimer`s Disease.
