Homeless may be Responsible for Historic Building Fire

Updated: January 7, 2009
Little Rock fire investigators are looking into the possibility that a homeless individual may have accidentally started a fire that destroyed the historic Mosaic Templars Building. They say there was a 2 foot opening in the back of the building. At first they thought construction maybe to blame because the building was being renovated into a museum. Dedicated in 1913 by Booker T. Washington, the Mosaic Templars Building became a vibrant center for African American life and an important symbol of black economic achievement in racially segregated Little Rock.
