Session: Debate & Developments

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Around the capitol today: - Isolated school areas will have to wait longer for more funding help. A bill to send those areas almost 5 million more dollars has been pulled down as lawmakers work to redefine "isolated." - The bill calling for one superintendent per county has been amended. It now calls for 2 years worth of study on a plan that keeps superintendents in charge of academics and put a chancellor in charge of the business affairs of all the schools in a county. - The governor`s blasting the general assembly`s swift decision to let voters choose to add video gaming at the state`s two racetracks. He says if lawmakers had moved as quickly to rectify problems with the state`s school system....Arkansas would have the best one in the nation.
