The military officer who threatened Bill Clinton`s presidential campaign in 1992 with allgations of draft dodging has been buried. Colonel Eugene J. Holmes died Saturday at the age of 88. He was the ROTC instructor at the University of Arkansas. In 1969, he made room at the university`s military training program for Clinton, who was facing induction into the military during the Vietnam War. Clinton never enrolled in the ROTC courses. He returned to his studies as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford while being exempted from service. In 1992, Holmes told reporters that Clinton had deliberately deceived him to avoid military service. He feared a draft dodger would be elected president.
