Arkansas Democrats have thrown their weight behind a plan to move the state`s presidential primary election up on the calendar. The move is m eant to get Arkansas more attention next time the presidential sweepstakes rolls around. The Democratic executive committee voted this weekend to recommend that the presidential primary be held on the first Tuesday in February. Under current rules, the presidential primary is held in May. Supporters of the date change say they want to hold it sooner than that, so voters in Arkansas will get a chance to choose from the full slate of candidates who are running for the White House. By May, the nominations are mostly decided.
