Airmen Take Conway Residents For A Ride

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Some Conway residents became troops Saturday. They took to the skies in a C130 jet bearing the name of the city. The trip came after National Guard members paid homage to the city, by putting its name on the plane in a dedication ceremony Saturday morning at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville. The purpose was to pay homage to the city while serving as a recruiting tool for teenagers. "I think it made an impressive impact on them to know that this type of facility is right here and it`s a program they can be involved in and participate in," said Tab Townsell, mayor of Conway. The plane was on base since the 1960s and flew on hundreds of missions.
