Tontitown Mayor Resigns

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The northwest Arkansas community of Tontitown will have to find a new mayor. Dan Watson has submitted his resignation because he says he can no longer do the job effectively. The city`s recorder and treasurer, Sherry Pianalto, will fill in as acting mayor. The city council will determine at its next meeting whether to appoint someone for the remainder of the term, or to call for a special election. Watson says he`s 70 years old and he`s had health problems -- and his time is increasingly consumed by a squabble with one of the city council members. He says all those factors led to his resignation.
