Hundreds of residents returned home Sunday night after a fire
at a hazardous waste incineration plant forced the evacuation of more than 1500
residents. The fire was discovered about 8 a.m. at the Teris plant in Southern Arkansas. Fire officials said most of the fire was extinguished by Sunday afternoon, However, authorities had chosen to let a small section of the fire burn out rather than send firefighters into the hazardous area. No injures are being reported, and the Environmental Protection Agency is testing air and soil quality.
