Updated: January 7, 2009
A shopping trip wasn`t enough to stop Jefferson County Sheriff Boe Fontaine from stopping a robber. Fontaine was shopping at store on Main Street in Pine Bluff when he noticed a woman fighting off a man who entered her car. He rushed to the scene, pulled the man from the vehicle and held him to the ground. The victim used Fontaine`s police radio to call for backup. Neither Fontaine or the victim was injured in the scuffle. The man, who deputies believe is mentally ill, is being held for observation.
