Hot Springs police officers found a bomb in a pick up truck Friday afternoon. It started when they brought 27-year-old Megan Weatherford in for questioning about stolen credit cards. While police were talking with her, she told them about a bomb in the back of a truck. Police went to the Apple Tree Inn at 805 East Grand Avenue and found an explosive device in the back of a truck. They say 37 year old Bobby Franklin owned the truck and was staying at the motel with Weatherford. During the investigation, police say they learned Franklin bought the explosives from 27 year old Cory Wright, who lived in the 3900 block of Central Avenue in Hot Springs. They searched Wright`s mobile home and say they found more materials used to make bombs. Police evacuated the area, including La Hacienda, a popular mexican food restaurant. People were allowed to return to the area around 10:00 p.m. that night after the Little Rock Fire Department Bomb Squad took care of the explosives. Investigators sya they`re now trying to figure out why the men had the explosives. Weatherford is charged with two counts of forgery. Franklin and Wright are both charged with possessing explosives.
