Smaller Cities Are Trying To Steal Little Rock`s Shoppers

Cities like Hot Springs and Conway are spending tens of thousands of dollars to lure holiday shoppers out of Little Rock and into their businesses. In Conway, the city`s chamber of commerce and local businesses raised 20 thousand dollars for a series of radio and television ads. The city said new stores like Target, Kohl`s and Pier One that have opened in Conway during the last year. Officials said it`s often less hassle for Little Rock shoppers to head west rather than fight the crowds in the city. Hot Springs is marketing itself as the place to come for shoppers who want to find unique gifts in the city`s many art galleries and antique shops this holiday season.
