The Homeland Security Department today announced 21.5 million dollars for Arkansas first responders. The federal department gave four specific grants to fire agencies in the state: 17-thousand dollars to the Bono Fire Protection District, nearly 33,000 dollars to the Northside Volunteeer Fire Department in Des Arc, more than 52,000 dollars to the Flippin Fire Department and more than 48,000 dollars to the Selma Volunteer Fire Department in Monticello. The grants were part of Two and a half billion dollars released to first responders nationwide. Over the next several months about 750 million dollars will be sent to fire departments across the country.
